My Approach to Helping

Looking for a new therapist can be quite daunting and time consuming, can't it? I understand how important and crucial it is to find a suitable match. I pride myself on creating a safe, supportive, and open environment for my patients. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, a CADC-II (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) with over 17 years of professional experience in addiction and recovery, a Certified Specialist in Anger Management, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.

I work with those struggling with depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma, anger, emotional disturbances, change of life transitions, chronic pain, relationship concerns, work burnout, personality disorders, intrainterpersonal issues, and general stressors. I utilize evidenced-based therapy including an inclusive and integrated humanistic model that tailors therapy specific to your needs. I believe that building a rapport is the most important aspect of the therapeutic connection between therapist and patient. I will meet you where you are at! If you are unsure of therapy, we will explore it together and I will assist you on your therapeutic journey! I use a humanistic and cognitive-behavioral model that puts the patient first and includes CBT, ACT, IPT, relapse prevention, anger management, and motivational interviewing. I am here to help you cope with whatever you are experiencing no matter how big or small!

I have worked with an array of patients from adolescents to elderly to those in the foster care system, corrections and justice system, detox, residential and outpatient centers, private practice settings, and in-home care. I provide individual short-term and long-term psychotherapy, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Whether you are new to the therapy process or if you are in search of a new therapist, I am here to help guide you on this path! Providers in my office are allies of Racial-Justiced and LGBTQIA+ and also work with law enforcement, first responders, veterans, and medical professionals.

My Role as a Therapist

As a psychologist, my passion lies in helping individuals navigate life's challenges and facilitating their journey towards growth and healing. I believe in the power of therapy to foster self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful change. It is an honor to walk alongside my patients as they explore their emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

My Therapy Focus

I use a comprehensive approach that may incorporate various therapy modalities depending on the needs of the session. Each session may be different and tailored to YOU! In your first session, we will explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress and adjust the therapy approach as needed and as goals are met!

My Guiding Ethical Principles

I am fully committed to providing services that affirm the dignity, worth, and value of all individuals. I am dedicated to promoting an environment of respect and appreciation for the race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, national origin, age, ancestry, physicalmental ability, sexual orientation, marital status, parental status, gender identity, gender expression, and socioeconomic status of all persons. I believe in creating an atmosphere of openness, trust, respect, and safety where diverse attitudes, beliefs, values, and behaviors can be explored and discussed. Mental health concerns are often affected by social forces in the environment related to power and privilege such as racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, heterosexism, and other forms of marginalization and oppression. My practice fully embraces providing high quality, diverse, and multi-culturally sensitive services that affirm the dignity, worth and value of all individuals.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Totally understandable! The therapy process can be extremely daunting if you are unfamiliar with how it works. Many of my patients are first-time therapy seekers! I understand how vulnerable it can be to divulge personal information to a stranger. I am here to listen and be with you every step of the way on your therapeutic journey while guiding you through the process and meeting you where you are at!

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

This tends to happen with there is a mismatch of alignment or just all around lack of rapport between provider and patient. As a new provider to you, I'm committed to creating a positive and supportive environment for all my patients. I value feedback and am dedicated to continuously improving my practice to ensure that each individual feels heard, respected, and supported throughout their therapeutic journey. Please feel free to reach out if you have any concerns or if there's anything specific you'd like to discuss.
