My Approach to Helping
I respect and value each human being as unique and having inner healing capacities. The life issues impacting them may have them stuck and in need of new tools, perspectives, empathy and affirmation of their strengths and worth. I offer nonjudgmental, openness and expertise in a number of therapy modes, with an emphasis on solution focused models. If people wish to, religion or spirituality is utilized as a source of strength depending on each person's belief system (nothing is imposed). I am a facilitator or catalyst for a person to learn new coping tools, recover healthy sense of self, develop emotional regulation and stress relieving methods including mindfulness, yoga, self hypnosis or mediation, as well as through cognitive therapy relaxation/problem solving/self awareness and use of self talk. I am a collaborator with people continually checking for benefit or outcome congruent with their stated goals for therapy.
