My Approach to Therapy

I specialize in depression, self-harm, grief, and couples counseling, based in Fort Worth and virtually across Texas. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My ideal clients are those who have experienced a significant loss, are struggling with depression, or feel disconnected from a partner they want to reconnect with. Many of my clients also carry pain they’ve turned inward, whether that’s a persistent low mood that won’t lift or urges to self-harm as a way of coping. You may have been told your grief has gone on too long, that you should “snap out of” your depression, or that you’re too hard on yourself. You may feel alone in your pain, unsure if what you’re experiencing is normal. My work with grief is grounded in a companioning philosophy. Rather than trying to fix your pain, I walk alongside you as you face the wilderness of loss, creating space to honor your emotions and mourn at your own pace. The word bereave literally means “to be torn apart,” and it takes time to heal from that. With depression and self-harm, I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and person-centered therapy to help you identify the negative, intrusive thoughts that drive how you feel and treat yourself. Together, we’ll work to uncover a truer, often kinder version of those thoughts, and practice speaking to yourself the way you would speak to someone you love. This work often includes learning to accept your faults and extend yourself forgiveness, rather than carrying self-judgment as a constant weight. With couples, I use the Gottman Method, an approach that helps partners build a deeper friendship, manage conflict in healthier ways, and create shared meaning together. We’ll work on recognizing the patterns that lead to disconnection or gridlock, replacing criticism and defensiveness with curiosity and repair, and rebuilding trust after it’s been broken. Whether you’re working through a specific betrayal, feeling more like roommates than partners, or simply want to strengthen a relationship that’s already good, this approach gives us concrete tools to help you feel closer and more understood. I understand that reaching out takes courage when you are carrying so much. Know that you will not be assessed or hurried here, only met with compassion and deep respect for what you’re going through. Whether you’re grieving a loss, working to quiet a harsh inner voice, or rebuilding connection with your partner, I warmly invite you to reach out. You do not have to walk this journey alone.

My Therapy Focus

My focus in therapy is to provide a nonjudgmental, third-party perspective where clients can openly explore their concerns, goals, and hopes for themselves. Together, we look at what is working, what feels stuck, and what may need attention or change. I aim to support clients in strengthening the parts of themselves they value while working through challenges in a way that feels respectful and manageable. Therapy is a collaborative process, with the goal of helping clients move toward the version of themselves they want to be.
