What's My Approach to Therapy?
I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most essential element of successful therapy. This is achieved through empathic listening, being totally present with the client, and using the therapeutic approach which is most helpful for that particular client, at that particular time. In other words, I don't believe that one-size-fits-all.
We all carry false beliefs about ourselves which we learned in childhood. We will gently explore the roots of these beliefs, but I will never ask you to go beyond your comfort level. When we learn how these feelings and beliefs originated, and how they affect your present life, you can begin to make the changes necessary to achieve the life you want. Your true self and potential can emerge from sadness into the light.
I guide people along this path of self-knowledge through empathic listening, nonjudgmental acceptance, and supportive, sensitive feedback. With more than 30 years of experience in the mental health field, there is no problem, issue, or life circumstance that I cannot help you with.
