What's My Approach to Therapy?

I’m Janelle DolRayne, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) specializing in narrative therapy and perinatal mental health, serving clients in Los Angeles, California. I work with individuals, couples, and families seeking relationship therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and grief therapy for issues such as anxiety, loss, relational concerns, work-related stress, and perinatal and postpartum challenges. My approach is non-pathologizing. I see my clients as more than their problems. I see them as worthy, knowledgeable, and dignified people seeking a better way. As a therapist certified in perinatal mental health (PMH-C), I support people through the immense transition of starting a family. I often work with people experiencing fertility challenges, difficult pregnancies, perinatal and postpartum anxiety and depression, postpartum obsessive-compulsive challenges (OCD), reproductive trauma, and the relational and identity changes that can come with becoming a parent. Everyone deserves to be listened to. I believe therapy should be inclusive, rooted in social justice, and affirming to all individuals and identities, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, ability, or sexual orientation. I acknowledge the impact of systemic oppression on mental health. I see healing as both an individual and communal process.
