What's My Approach to Therapy?

I enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds and strive at the beginning of counseling to establish a trusting relationship. Then, I collaborate with patients to identify agreed upon goals for their specific concerns. Typically, the counseling process involves addressing multiple areas of a person's life, including how one thinks, the choices one makes, how one relates to people, and how one regulates and expresses his or her emotions. As the counseling process unfolds, I work with patients to refine and modify goals as needed. The services I provide are characterized by empathy, genuineness, respect, and empowerment.

My Practice & Services

I accept many insurance plans, including: BCBS PPO, Blue Choice PPO, OptumUnited Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, ValueOptions, MultiplanPHCS, and Tricare. A full listing of the plans I accept is on my practice website.

Fee-for-service rates range from $170 to $200 per session. Reduced rates can be negotiated for some individuals who have limited financial resources.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

What I enjoy most about being a psychologist is helping to reduce the distress that people are experiencing, and then helping them to see that they are capable of improving their life situation. It's wonderful to see people change for the good, and to help them feel liberated. Essentially, psychotherapy is a process of reducing suffering and then focusing on life improvement and enhancement.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Many people I work with have reported to me that they had previous counseling that was unproductive or bad. This is unfortunate. What many people discover is that I am very down to earth, I utilize appropriate humor, I like metaphors, and I don't judge people for the situations that they are wrestling with.
