My Approach to Therapy

Relationships and family are some of the most meaningful, and most challenging, parts of being human. I specialize in working with couples and families, and what draws me to this work is simple: most people aren't struggling because something is wrong with them. They're struggling because life is hard, and doing it in close relationship with other people can make it even harder. I work with couples navigating disconnection, conflict, or major life transitions, and with families trying to stay close through the kind of strain that can quietly pull people apart. Anxiety, depression, communication breakdowns, trauma, whatever's making things feel heavy, my goal is to help you find solid ground again, together. My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. I'm not here to sit back while you talk in circles. We'll look honestly at what's happening, figure out what's underneath it, and build real tools for handling it differently. People often tell me they leave sessions feeling like something actually shifted, not just processed. If you're considering therapy for yourself, your relationship, or your family, I'd love to connect and see if we're a good fit. You don't have to have it all figured out before you reach out.

My Practice & Services

Path to Peace Counseling Services is a nonprofit behavioral health organization serving individuals, couples, families, and teens across Wythe, Pulaski, and Tazewell Counties in rural Southwest Virginia. We operate as a hybrid free clinic with a no-turn-away policy, meaning we are committed to providing care regardless of a client’s ability to pay. For those who are uninsured or out of network, we offer a sliding-scale fee based on household income, starting as low as $3.50 per session. Our clinical team holds multiple credentials, including Licensed Professional Counselor, Substance Abuse Counselor, and Qualified Mental Health Professional services. We offer couples counseling using the Gottman Method, emotionally focused therapy (EFT), and the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT) framework. We also offer faith-integrated support for clients who want a spiritually sensitive approach to their care. As a growing practice, we are actively expanding our services to meet the needs of our rural community, including substance use treatment, therapeutic services for youth, and psychiatric care. We believe access to quality mental health care is not a privilege; it is a right, and we are here to help make that a reality for the communities we serve.
