My Approach to Therapy
Im a religious trauma therapist offering online counseling for adults who grew up in conservative religious environments. I help adults reprocess negative messaging and rebuild self-worth through self-esteem counseling so they can connect to their authentic selves, shame free.
Many of the adults I work with are navigating the lasting effects of growing up in a rigid or conservative religious environment. Theyve often been told that their needs, feelings, or identities werent valid. Perfection was the expectation. The lesson was this: if life isnt going how you want, you need to do more. Pray harder. Pursue purity. Even after updating their belief systems, those messages still echo, shaping how they see themselves, relate to others, and move through the world.
Recovering from conservative religion can leave you questioning who you are, what you believe, and how to trust yourself. Maybe you're stuck in perfectionism, constantly thinking, Im not good enough, leading you to isolate from others or hold yourself back from your goals. Maybe you have trouble making decisions because you believe you can't trust your instincts. You might not remember a time when things felt different.
