My Approach to Helping
If you're human (and I know you are), you've likely experienced losses and betrayals that ripped you apart, failures that made you feel worthless, unwanted changes that left you reeling, and cruelties that still hurt. That's a lot to deal with! No matter how much you're hurting, I believe you can heal. It would be my honor to work with you to create more happiness in your life.
My approach is easy-going, nonjudgmental, and collaborative. I work with you to minimize the things that sabotage your happiness. These might include negative ways of thinking, unproductive behavior patterns, poor decision-making, limited ability to see options unhealthy communication patterns, or poor self-esteem.
I use deep and respectful listening, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is a way to challenge dysfunctional ways of thinking like catastrophizing, EMDR--a method for rewiring the brain to be more positive and less affected by old traumas, and other methods according to your needs. In addition to my graduate training in clinical mental health counseling, I hold a Ph.D. in life coaching.
