What's My Approach to Therapy?

You feel disconnected from yourself and are questioning your connection to others in this time of rapid change. The news is endlessly upsetting, but you have trouble preventing yourself from endlessly checking your feed. You wonder, "Is it just me?" since so many people seem to be going on with their lives unbothered. You are impatient with small talk, but those around you dismiss or ignore attempts to speak what's really on your mind. The result is that you're constantly on edge, having trouble sleeping, experiencing discomfort in your gut, and, in general, not enjoying life. You're looking for help to locate your internal compass and some hope for the future. The good news is that you are in contact with the reality of a world where beliefs we've had about the present and future are under quite a bit of strain. I'm a therapist who is aware of political, social, technological, and climate-related stressors that affect people consciously and unconsciously. I can acknowledge your thoughts and feelings as valid and also help you find more balance, resiliency, and confidence in your ability to navigate the challenges of life in the 21st century. My experience as a trauma-aware therapist with deep training in somatics gives me a unique style of helping. I firmly believe in the undamaged core self of every human, which is always ready to emerge with the right support. Sessions are characterized by free-association conversations that allow the thoughts, feelings, emotions, images, and body sensations to surface that your mind-body system most needs to work on at that time. I practice deep attunement to the spoken and unspoken voice of your unique self, and reflect back to you the things your own psychology is calling forth. This is the path with the most ease, because we are working with your system, rather than working against it by imposing something external.
