What's My Approach to Therapy?

At Belove Counseling we appreciate that we all have basic needs that we are trying to fulfill. At times, the methods we choose to get those needs met are no longer useful or can have detrimental outcomes to ourselves and our relationships. My approach to therapy begins with a mindful focus on self. The basic needs that provide the foundation for motivation include the ability to love and be loved, the connection with others, learning to recognize your competence and personal power, and to act with freedom and autonomy. Ultimately, we all strive to be emotionally fulfilled and joyous. Together, we will take a journey inward and curiously explore the obstacles and barriers which keep you stuck in unhealthy patterns.

My Practice & Services

The initial consultation is free. Individual, couples and family therapy offered. Each session is 45-50 minutes with longer sessions scheduled as needed. I do not bill insurance. However, a sliding scale is available for those in need.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I am skilled at helping clients think in terms of total behaviors. When people think in terms of total behaviors, they can see that they choose their behaviors and also have the option to change those behaviors. I am very skilled at helping clients recognize how what they think affects what they do. While we have control over the doing component of behavior, we don't have as much control over the thinking component. Behavior ultimately gives us control over all components. My expertise with choice theory can help you recognize that when we change what we are doing, we will notice that our thoughts, feelings, and physiological responses change as well.
