My Approach to Therapy

I start by meeting people where they are and approaching each session with curiosity, hope, and even a little humor. I wonder what is really standing between them and the life they want. Sometimes that means people need me to listen, while other times I need to ask some gentle questions. In session, you will have my full attention. Often, we have to talk about the hard stuff, and that can feel uncomfortable, but often your discomfort is the first step toward growth and change. As a therapist, I am really fortunate to see how a person's resilience, courage, and desire for a richer life often unfold as we work together.

My Therapy Focus

When I work with people I draw on a variety of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-based Interventions. Rather than allowing these approaches to dictate our work, I use them as tools to make a person?s work with me more effective. These tools also allow people who work with me to meet their goals outside of our sessions, where it really counts!

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Goodness of fit. People who find a therapist with whom they click, and who can collaborate effectively with them really benefit from their sessions. While other factors such as convenience or cost are also important, working with a therapist with whom you can connect can make the experience much more useful. If I cannot offer a good fit to a person with whom I work then I will help them find another provider in the community who can better meet their needs.
