What's My Approach to Therapy?
Many people do not have a space that is just for them, where they can closely look at and process experiences, situations, or even thoughts. I know how busy day-to-day lives can be, so I understand how difficult it can be to take a moment for yourself to be fully present and focus on your own well-being. Knowing this, one of my main goals as a counselor is to provide a space where people can take at least a single hour per week to themselves to work through challenges like emotional or mental distress, relationship issues, or everyday stressors. I believe everyone deserves to have a space that is fully focused on them and has someone there to help process the impact of experiences, unlearn unhealthy behaviors, and collaboratively work toward goals. I would love to be there to help you begin or continue your counseling journey!
My Practice & Services
My specialties and professional interests include working with neurodivergent individuals (attention-deficit hyperactivity [ADHD], autistic people), trauma and crisis, relationship or interpersonal difficulties, anxiety, and depression. I see clients ranging in age from early adolescence to late adulthood, and see both individuals and couples. My style of counseling utilizes evidence-based and trauma-informed treatment approaches, which include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Cognitive behavioral therapy is used to reduce negative emotional and behavioral responses to trauma and impactful experiences. It addresses distorted or upsetting beliefs ("I will never be good enough," "This will never get better") and other characteristics of traumatic or impactful experiences. Dialectical behavioral therapy utilizes mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness to help manage intense emotions, reduce self-destructive or unhealthy behaviors, and improve interpersonal relationships.
