My Approach to Helping
Women and children’s mental health is the focus of my practice. For over 25 years I have worked as a child and women’s pyschotherapist. I am a licensed Professional Counselor and a National Board Certified Counselor, but more importantly, I’m the mother of six young adult children and I understand the concerns that come with raising and parenting children. My practice offers a warm, comfortable and safe environment for you and your children. Clients receive a free half hour consultation visit to discuss concerns and questions before beginning counseling. I accept insurance as an Out of Network Provider and offer a sliding scale fee in an effort to make counseling affordable for all.
More Info About My Practice
In addition to working with children I am particularly involved in working with women on issues like dating, single parenting, school and career goals, divorce, emotional, verbal and physical abuse and unhealthy behavior patterns effecting their lives.
I have worked successfully with women on exploring the relationships in their lives and helping to discover what is healthy and what is unhealthy. Counseling can provide the listening ear and needed feedback to help examine the emotional relationships in your life.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
Counseling can be short term or long term depending on the needs of the client. Short term is approximately six weeks and long term is anything longer than six weeks. Behavioral goals are set and reviewed at the the beginning of the six weeks. If clients successfully reach their goals within the first six weeks they may wish to end counseling. If not, they may continue with sessions until all goals are successfully met.
