My Approach to Helping
Each individual, couple, and family is remarkably unique, and the relationships that develop between/among us are equally as one-of-a-kind. For me, as I enter a therapeutic process, my clients and I begin the collaborative and contextual co-creation of a novel art form, original scientific study, fresh teaching experience, and dynamic healing process through the use of mutually agreed upon tools and techniques. I incorporate psychotherapeutic, spiritual, teaching, experiential, creativity-based (music, art, poetry), animals (therapeutic pets), and coaching into my work, always with the permission of my clients/students. We share a sacred journey across deep valleys, dark shadows, and high mountains into a place of truth and healing. I genuinely care about people and they feel it.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
Making A Difference. Through my work as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) I passionately seek to promote, guide, and advocate for the healing of individuals, couples, and families. I accomplish this through various roles, including the provision of direct therapeutic services, professional leadership, the authoring of literary works, the training of interns, and through legislative advocacy in the field. As the current President of the Hawaii Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (HAMFT), primary psychotherapist of TalkDoctors, LLC, internship supervisor, and author; I am working toward these goal realizations. I genuinely love my work, believe it will make a difference, and consider it an honor to provide such service to our global community.
My Therapy Focus
Helping People Heal. I do this through developing a safe, trusting relationship, focusing on strengths and solutions, learning from experiences and considering contexts, expanding perspectives and heightening awareness, through teaching, modeling, and coaching; through reflection, understanding, and integration; through mindfulness, meditation, and meaning. A contextually based, solution focused, systemic approach, with an eye toward truth, respect, and human evolution, is an integrated overview of the focus of my therapy work.
