My Approach to Therapy
Licensed in CA, FL, HI, and KS. Dr. Levine is a board-certified (ABPP) psychologist with 30+ years of experience. It is difficult enough to select a competent and experienced psychologist from the listings of so many different types of "therapists, counselors, and psychotherapists" (none of which are the same as a "psychologist"). It is unlikely that you would ever purposely select a surgeon who lacked board certification. In a similar manner, the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) awards board-certified status to only 5% of all clinical psychologists, who pass their rigorous credentials review and comprehensive written and oral examinations. Look for the letters "ABPP" after a psychologist's degree as evidence that they are board-certified. After earning A PhD degree at Hofstra University's Department of Psychology (NY), Dr. Levine completed a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) at the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Dr. Levine was also honored to have served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry. After moving to LA in 2012, Dr. Levine served as a clinical psychologist at the UCLA School of Medicine and began a private practice in both Beverly Hills and at Cedars-Sinai Medical Tower. Prior to moving to LA, Dr Levine had served as the Chief Psychologist at Mt. Sinai South Nassau Medical Center in New York. He is currently licensed as a psychologist in California, Florida, Kansas, and Hawaii, and sees patients virtually from all 4 States.
My Practice & Services
Dr. Levine has also served as a clinical psychologist for the hit TV series "Hoarders" on the A&E Television Network and has more than 30 years of experience as a clinical psychologist. He employs cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to treat a wide range of problems and issues. He also has a significant concern about your confidentiality and privacy, and as a result, he will personally answer your phone calls. He will provide insurance claim forms that you can then send to your PPO insurance company to obtain direct insurance reimbursement. Feel free to call (424-766-5196) or EVEN BETTER, simply message him (click the green "Request a Consultation" bar just below his phone number above) or just email him today at BHpsychologist@gmail.com and get a quick reply! Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Two important considerations in selecting a psychologist are competence and fit. It is generally not too difficult to research a psychologist's credentials, background, training and years of experience. That should be step number one. You may want someone who has years of experience treating the issues that are important to you. Other questions you might have, could include such things as from which university they earned their Ph.D. degree or did they choose to also obtain post-doctoral fellowship training? At which hospitals or facilities have they worked and for how long? How much experience do they have, especially in treating your specific issues and concerns? Have they obtained Board Certification? Once you are assured that you have found a highly competent psychologist you should then evaluate whether they are a good fit for you. Are you comfortable working with them? Do you feel a good connection and sense of mutual purpose? Do they listen carefully to you and seem genuinely interested? This is unlikely to be determined with just a quick 5-minute conversation and will more likely take a few visits to ascertain, but use your judgement and remember that you are entrusting your care and your personal issues to this person.
