My Approach to Therapy
Many people come to therapy because they are tired of surviving. They may be struggling with the effects of trauma, grief and loss, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, or life transitions that have left them feeling disconnected from themselves and others.
I believe our struggles make more sense when they are understood within the context of our life experiences, relationships, and the environments that shaped us. The ways we learn to trust, protect ourselves, connect with others, and understand our worth are often influenced by experiences that occurred long before we recognized their impact.
My approach is trauma-informed, attachment-based, and culturally responsive. I work with individuals, couples, and families to explore patterns that may no longer serve them, heal unresolved wounds, strengthen relationships, and build a greater sense of clarity, connection, and purpose. I integrate EMDR and other evidence-based approaches to help clients process difficult experiences while developing new ways of relating to themselves and others.
Therapy is not about fixing what is broken. It is about understanding your story, recognizing your strengths, and creating space for healing, growth, and meaningful change.
My Practice & Services
In addition to providing therapy for individuals, couples, and families, I offer specialized services in trauma recovery, EMDR therapy, attachment-focused treatment, adoption and foster care concerns, and relationship healing. My work is informed by more than 20 years of clinical experience across mental health, child welfare, family systems, and community-based settings.
I also provide clinical consultation, professional training, supervision, attachment and bonding assessments, and educational workshops for organizations, professionals, and community groups. As an educator, researcher, and clinician, I am committed to helping individuals not only address immediate challenges but also develop deeper insight into the experiences, relationships, and environments that have shaped their lives.
I welcome clients from diverse cultural, racial, spiritual, and family backgrounds and strive to create a therapeutic space where people feel respected, understood, and empowered in their healing journey.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Finding the right therapist is about more than credentials, specialties, or treatment approaches. It is about finding someone with whom you can build a relationship that feels safe, authentic, and collaborative. Therapy often involves exploring vulnerable experiences, difficult emotions, and deeply personal aspects of your life, so feeling understood and respected is essential.
I encourage prospective clients to consider not only a therapist’s experience and expertise, but also whether they feel a sense of connection and trust. In my experience, meaningful change is most likely to occur when clients feel supported enough to be honest about their struggles and empowered enough to explore new possibilities for healing, growth, and connection.
