My Approach to Therapy
Davie Dennington is a person-centered counselor who works with children, adolescents, and adults. She provides a supportive, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space where individuals can explore life’s challenges and feel genuinely seen and understood. Her approach is grounded in authenticity, compassion, and respect for each person’s unique story.
Davie supports clients navigating stress, emotional challenges, life transitions, and trauma, with a focus on building resilience, insight, and meaningful growth.
In addition to her clinical work, she is a competitive CrossFit athlete and coach. Davie understands the mental demands of high performance and values the connection between mind and body. She believes movement can be a powerful tool in supporting mental health and overall well-being.
Davie is committed to walking alongside her clients with both care and understanding as they move toward healing and growth.
At Foundations Counseling, Davie Dennington works with a variety of clients who may be seeking support with:
· Children, adolescents, and teens: self-injury (including cutting), self-esteem and self-worth concerns, suicidal ideation, anxiety, depression, school and family issues, eating challenges, sports performance struggles, and loss of a parent
· Life transitions: life stages, spirituality, end-of-life and grief concerns, natural and/or sudden death of a child, spouse, pet, or loved one, grief and loss, male and female role issues, and restoring meaning to life
· Individual counseling: abuse, addictions, anxiety, depression, divorce recovery, empowerment, self-esteem, social anxiety, self-worth concerns, perfectionism, obsessive-compulsive challenges (OCD), and codependency and abandonment issues
· Family relationships: adoptive and foster parenting, addictions and codependency, child and adolescent concerns, couples and marital counseling, multigenerational families, parenting challenges, trust and understanding, single parenting, and co-parenting
Davie Dennington has a Master of Arts in Child and Adolescent Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She also holds a Master of Science in Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, both from Louisiana State University Shreveport.
Davie utilizes techniques from existential psychology, solution-focused therapy, and person-centered therapy. Her unique life experiences have provided her with the framework to encourage, empower, and advocate for those seeking their own healing. Her passion for acceptance and connection allows her to be fully present and offer a guiding light for growth beyond healing.
