What's My Approach to Therapy?
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, seeing adult individuals and couples presenting with an array of mental health concerns. Seeking guidance for mental health and relational concerns can be intimidating and uncomfortable at times, so I commend you for taking this big step! I have been working in the mental health field, in many different capacities, for the last 15 years. Specializing in working with couples and Christian-based therapy, I am also trained in addressing most mental health areas.
As we know, we are all unique persons walking through life with our own stories that play key roles in how we think and feel about ourselves, our situations, and others. Along with this, there are often commonalities and patterns that can be addressed to help improve our state of mind and overall quality of life. I strive to build and maintain a rapport with my clients that balances a "down-to-earth" feel, hard work, and a straightforward approach to get to the core issues at hand. With such a therapeutic rapport, I can listen, encourage, challenge, and cheer you on to achieve your mental health goals.
During the first session, we will complete an assessment where I can get to know you personally, and we can talk about what goals you have for our time together. I find it helpful to talk about strengths during this time of introduction, along with growth areas and presenting concerns. I attempt to create a welcoming environment where you feel safe to be vulnerable and share what is on your mind. After the first session, we will continue to talk together about your presenting concerns and how to improve the quality of your life while striving to meet your personal objectives.
