My approach to helping people is to meet them where they are -- to obtain a healthy rapport to build trust and recognize the goals clients are wanting to obtain. I believe we all have stress in our life that can be overwhelming and when a crisis hits on top of daily life, it can be devastating. Talking things through and realizing that there are options available is not only helpful, it is a healthy way of getting through the rough areas of life. I have been told I am down to earth, easy to talk to and trustworthy. I believe these traits are easily seen when meeting others and with these traits a sense of safety is felt helping communication and the sharing of experiences. There are many things we are faced with that seem unbearable. Talking helps!
My Role as a Therapist
My role as a therapist is to be a good listener without judgement and to offer options andor coping skills to manage the rough spots in life.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
I believe the need for therapy and actually choosing to attend is a hurdle in itself, the most important one in solving life concerns. The fear many have is having to actually admit and express the emotional pain being felt. The struggle is real. Reaching out to mental health therapist is not a weakness, it is a strength because you are facing your fear of the emotional pain you have been holding. Therapy is very successful, it takes time, but it works.
