What's My Approach to Therapy?

I am an effective counselor, experienced both professionally and personally, who specializes in working with men and couples who want real change, not endless conversation. I also work with young men struggling to make their way in the world. Much of my work focuses on men who feel frustrated, disconnected, stuck, or under pressure to “hold it together” while things quietly fall apart underneath. Many of my clients are intelligent, capable, and successful on paper—but struggling with anger, anxiety, relationships, identity, or major life transitions. I offer a grounded, direct, and respectful approach that helps men understand what is actually driving their reactions and how to respond differently—without shaming, pathologizing, or watering things down. I also work well with couples who are caught in recurring conflict, emotional distance, or breakdowns in trust. My approach helps couples slow things down, identify the patterns keeping them stuck, and rebuild communication and connection in a way that is practical and sustainable. Sessions are structured, balanced, and focused on progress—so therapy feels purposeful rather than chaotic or one-sided. My style is warm but straightforward. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, and person-centered work, and structured couples frameworks, while tailoring treatment to the person—not the model. I am active in sessions, ask thoughtful questions, and help clients move from insight to action. If you are looking for a therapist who will take you seriously, challenge you appropriately, and help you make meaningful changes in your life or relationship, we may be a good fit. If you want quick relief, this probably isn’t your place—but if you want durable change, clarity, and growth, therapy can be a powerful investment.
