My Approach to Therapy

I am a Licensed Associate Counselor specializing in sports performance and mindset training. I am not just a counselor; I am a human and an athlete, just like you. During therapy, I strive to help you become the best version of yourself. We can explore difficult issues in an emotionally safe environment, free of judgment. I believe that a therapeutic relationship based on trust is essential for successful outcomes. My therapeutic approach is predominantly person-centered, incorporating techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and gestalt therapy. This holistic approach allows me to design a counseling program for your unique needs, because therapy is not one-size-fits-all.

My Practice & Services

I practice with Sherlin Consulting Group in Scottsdale, Arizona, and I see clients by telehealth throughout Arizona. I earned my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University and my BS in Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Austin. My background includes clinical counseling, academic research at Johns Hopkins University, and performance coaching with elite equestrian competitors. I work with athletes at every level, from recreational to Olympic, as well as with people outside of sport who want to build mental skills for the demands they face. I am a competitive equestrian myself, so the pressure of performing under scrutiny is familiar territory. I practice under the supervision of Leslie Sherlin, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
