What's My Approach to Therapy?
I'm a licensed clinical psychologist who places the greatest value in establishing an empathic, warm, and respectful environment (while modeling firm, healthy boundaries) for clients and their families. Over the last 7 years, I've treated adults, children, teens, couples, families, and groups in a private practice setting. My strength-based, collaborative approach, drawing on numerous techniques (cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), family systems, etc.), helps clients get the most from therapy and allows tailoring our work to your needs. When beneficial and appropriate, I work to foster a "team approach," encouraging good communication with other members of a client's daily life (i.e., other practitioners, physicians, family, teachers, etc.). Individual and group topics included: parent education; sexual orientation and gender identity, all ages (LGBTQ and ally community, PFLAG); life-span changes (career and academic transitions, "failure to launch," "empty nest," menopause, etc.); mindfulness; multiculturalism; trauma, abuse, and posttraumatic stress (PTSD) (i.e., healthy relationships, domestic violence); anxiety, depression, and mood conditions; addictions; suicidality and self-harm; autistic people (social skills); trichotillomania; attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD); Tourette's.
For clients of any age, our work often includes building insight, accountability, and action to achieve goals. Particularly with children and teens, involving and supporting family is key. For all clients, therapy can be challenging and, simultaneously, is potentially incredibly rewarding. We'll work in a collaborative, supportive setting to reach your personal success.
