My Approach to Therapy

My approach to helping is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs. At the core of my practice is a person-centered, strengths-based approach, while drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities, including internal family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy (), psychodynamic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused brief therapy, and narrative therapy. I integrate these thoughtfully based on what will be most helpful for you. Together, we can explore your experiences, recognize the strengths you already carry, develop practical coping skills, and find new ways of navigating grief, cognitive changes, caregiving, life transitions, and uncertainty. I offer an empathetic, nonjudgmental space where you can feel seen, supported, and understood.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

In my early twenties, I sustained a traumatic brain injury that profoundly altered my life. For nearly two years, my short-term memory functioned in approximately five-minute intervals. During that time, I encountered significant gaps in informed, empathetic care—not only for me, but also for those supporting me. This experience gave me lasting insight into the disorientation of neurological change and the often-unseen emotional burden this change can cause. Years later, after substantial recovery and earning my MSW, I became a caregiver myself. I came to understand the complex decisions, chronic stress, gradual burnout, guilt, and anxiety that can accompany caring for someone you love. My clinical approach is shaped by both professional training and lived experience. I offer a warm, grounded, and collaborative space where clients and caregivers can process difficult emotions, clarify their needs, and move through uncertainty with greater self-trust and resilience. In my practice, nobody has to navigate the most difficult time in their lives alone.

Groups I Work With

My clients are often navigating a significant change, loss, or period of uncertainty. You may be grieving someone you love, caring for an aging parent or partner, adjusting to changing family roles, or feeling anxious or overwhelmed by the responsibility of supporting others. You may also be facing changes in your own memory and abilities, or a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment, traumatic brain injury, or early-stage dementia. I work with adults, caregivers, and families experiencing grief, anticipatory grief, caregiver stress, burnout, aging-related transitions, and relationship changes.
