My Approach to Therapy

Becoming a mother changes you at the roots, not just your time, but your identity, your brain, your relationships, your body, and your sense of who you are. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado, and I’m passionate about working with women who are pregnant and postpartum because I believe this season of life deserves real, intentional support. I work with mothers who may be asking questions like, “What the heck is happening?” or “Is this normal?” Maybe you’re struggling with really scary thoughts that just pop into your head, and you’re scared to admit them to anyone. Or maybe you’re dealing with emotions at a higher level than you’ve ever experienced before. My approach depends on what you bring into our space. One of my main approaches is psychoeducation. I believe that knowledge is power, and a lot of motherhood comes with a lot of unknowns. I want to give control and power back by offering more information. I also offer different approaches like acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for learning how to live by your values regardless of anxious thoughts or emotions, internal family systems (IFS) for understanding the different parts of ourselves that sometimes feel at war with each other, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) to help the brain process difficult memories you feel stuck on, exposure and response prevention (ERP) to help stop the obsessive-compulsive challenges (OCD) cycle and get you back to living your life how you want to, and more. Therapy with me is very much come as you are. I do not expect you to love every moment of becoming a mother. I want to celebrate the good parts and support you through the hard ones. I show up authentically so that you can, too.
