My Approach to Therapy

Hi, I’m Charlene. I am a mental health clinician dedicated to helping individuals, families, and healthcare frontline workers navigate life’s challenges with clarity, compassion, and confidence. I work with children, adolescents, and adults. My approach is collaborative and grounded in the belief that healing happens when people feel seen, supported, and empowered. I integrate evidence-based practices with a holistic understanding of the mind-body connection, tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs, strengths, and lived experiences. When working with children and teens, I work closely with parents to enhance family communication and deepen understanding of their child’s emotional and behavioral needs. Whether you’re coping with stress, navigating a life transition, managing a mental health condition, or seeking personal growth, my goal is to create a safe space where you can explore, reflect, and heal. In addition to my clinical work, I am passionate about improving wellness within healthcare frontline environments. I serve on several committees focusing on physician well-being, compassionate communication, and support for families facing serious pediatric illness. You don’t have to navigate any of this alone. Together, we will work toward healing, resilience, and a stronger, more grounded sense of self. Finding the right therapist can be transformative, and it begins with a simple first step. If you’re ready for meaningful change, my complimentary 15-minute consultation offers an opportunity to explore fit and a balanced, personalized approach to your care. We invite you to Here to Heal to support your journey and help you take that first step.

My Practice & Services

I offer in-person and virtual sessions. I am available on most weekday evenings and Saturday from 9 am-3 pm.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

A lot of people feel nervous about therapy, especially if they have never gone before or if they had an experience in the past that did not feel helpful. That hesitation is normal. Therapy is personal, and not every therapist is going to be the right fit for every person. Sometimes it takes finding someone whose approach, personality, and communication style feel comfortable to you. I also think it is important to be honest that therapy is work. Talking helps, but real change usually comes from being willing to reflect, practice new coping strategies, and have conversations that are sometimes uncomfortable. You do not have to have everything figured out before you start, but being open to the process matters. At the same time, therapy should feel like a space where you can exhale a little. A place where you do not have to perform, explain away your feelings, or pretend you are okay when you are not. The goal is not perfection. It is understanding yourself better, feeling more supported, and learning how to move through life in a healthier and more balanced way.
