What's My Approach to Therapy?

Caitlin Lawler, LPC, is an EMDR-trained Licensed Professional Counselor who works with adults who have experienced childhood abuse, domestic violence, sexual violence, and attachment or relational trauma. Many of Caitlin’s clients arrive at therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected as they try to make sense of past or ongoing traumatic experiences. Trauma often affects not only emotional well-being but also the body, showing up as anxiety, chronic tension, difficulty sleeping, or a persistent sense of unease. Caitlin offers a steady, compassionate space where clients can explore their experiences at a pace that feels safe, collaborative, and empowering. Her trauma-focused work is grounded primarily in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), supported by a strong attachment-based lens and integration of Internal Family Systems (IFS)–informed approaches. She also incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, grounding techniques, somatic practices, and cognitive coping strategies. Treatment is always tailored to each client’s history, strengths, and goals, allowing therapy to be both structured and responsive. Throughout the therapeutic process, Caitlin supports clients in rebuilding self-trust, confidence, and a sense of internal safety that may have been disrupted by trauma or painful relationships. While revisiting the past can feel daunting, she believes it is often a meaningful step toward lasting change. Caitlin is committed to walking alongside her clients as they move toward healing, greater clarity, and a more secure, connected relationship with themselves and others.
