What's My Approach to Therapy?

Unconscious Connections Therapy Services is an online private practice dedicated to treating individuals with a multitude of mental health conditions. What makes us unique is that, unlike many online therapy services, we specialize in complex cases. We understand that in-person therapy for individuals with chronic mental health conditions is not always available in many areas throughout the country, and we seek to make these services available. We also understand that many people with chronic health conditions and disabilities may find it difficult to regularly attend in-person therapy, and online treatment is a more comfortable option. We strive to create a healing environment for our clients, regardless of their identity or life experiences.

In therapy, I tend to take a collaborative, egalitarian approach to treatment. I am open and nonjudgmental, and I take special time to tailor treatment approaches to fit each individual therapeutic relationship. I practice from a predominantly existential-phenomenological framework where individual needs, meaning-making, and the pursuit of happiness are emphasized. I also incorporate elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-based techniques, expressive arts intervention, and attachment theory as needed.

I specialize in trauma treatment, and use an integrative, evidence-based approach in a safe, supportive environment. I'm trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and I'm capable of using it for various presentations of trauma, including those with high levels of dissociative symptoms. I prioritize culturally sensitive care and have expertise in disability and health psychology.

I look forward to hearing from you and introducing you to the therapeutic process. While we are not contracted with any insurance carriers, out-of-network benefits may be used. Please see our website for details.
