What's My Approach to Therapy?
My therapy style is collaborative and client-centered. I believe therapy should meet you where you are—whether you’re looking to process deep emotional pain or just need support navigating day-to-day stress. I typically begin each session by checking in on what’s going well, what’s challenging, and where you’d like to focus. We’ll balance thoughtful exploration with practical tools for growth.
I use a blend of evidence-based approaches, including:
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR): To reprocess trauma and reduce emotional distress.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT): To strengthen emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and relationship skills.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): To help challenge unhelpful thought patterns and reduce emotional suffering.
Family systems: To explore how early relationships influence present dynamics.
Solution-focused therapy: To build on your strengths and set realistic, meaningful goals.
Therapy is a space for both reflection and action—and together, we’ll find a rhythm that works for you.
My Practice & Services
You may be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in patterns you can’t shake, or burdened by a past that still feels too close. You might be navigating life transitions, relationship conflict, or trying to quiet that critical inner voice. If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out on your own.
I’m Bailey Newell, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Omni Mental Health in St. Paul. I work with adults, couples, and families who are ready to explore their emotions, improve their relationships, and move toward lasting change.
I’ve been in the mental health field since 2016, beginning with home-based therapy before moving into outpatient care. In that time, I’ve helped clients work through trauma, anxiety, depression, communication issues, and major life transitions. Many of the people I work with come in feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin—and together, we create space for healing and movement forward.
Clients often tell me they appreciate how real I am in the room. I bring warmth, honesty, and a touch of humor when it’s welcome. I believe therapy only works when there’s a genuine connection, so I prioritize building a trusting relationship from the start. It’s not about fixing you—it’s about uncovering your strengths, making sense of your experiences, and finding a path that aligns with your values.
I’ve known I wanted to be a therapist since I was 12. Personal experiences with anxiety and family conflict deepened my belief that change is possible and that no one should have to navigate their pain alone.
