What's My Approach to Therapy?

I'm Ayana Lewis and I am a licensed clinical therapist in Georgia and Texas. I work well with those wanting to learn skills to better manage Anxiety andor Depression. I also help many navigate their relationships with others while working on their own self-concept (how they see themselves and the world around them). Oftentimes, we focus on past life experiences or are anxious about the future; therefore, I use a combination approach that includes mindfulness (being present) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (thoughts influence behaviors). These techniques help with grounding and appreciating the present moment while identifying belief patterns that are a hindrance. I believe in helping clients find feasible solutions to their perceived problems; therefore, I also utilize a solution-focused approach to therapy. I work well with clients that are experiencing low self-esteem and self-worth. I help clients recognize their value and how they are presenting to the world around them. Additionally, I assist those attempting to navigate life transitions including relationships, work, or family matters. I attempt to foster a relaxed environment and I want clients to feel as though we are having a normal conversation and not feel anxious about this therapeutic experience. I have always had the desire to help others; therefore, leading me down the path of becoming a Social Worker. I worked with and assisted many populations within my 17 years as a Social Worker and believe I have a good understanding of others. I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2014 and started offering a more therapeutic approach to clients within the healthcare system. I decided to work as a therapist because I wanted to gain a better understanding of people's thought processes and help them become a better version of themselves. At the end of our initial meeting, I work with clients to develop therapeutic treatment goals. I believe it is important to work together to establish these goals as I desire clients to feel as though they are getting the most out of this experience. Clients should expect an open and engaging counseling style. I am here for you to listen to your story and offer insight as needed or desired.
