Most of my work has been and continues to be with Couples and all the issues that life brings their way, such as: Enhancing communication; Infidelity; Sexual Dysfunction; Blending a Family; Intimacy; Parenting; etc. The sessions will be very focused on clearly established client goals. Homework is going to be an important part of our work, especially with Couples Therapy. I am a very forthright therapist who tries to help clients tap into their own reserves to find better ways to live. I also bring a wealth of knowledge, to the client, from my many years of work with relationship issues. Couples can feel very overwhelmed and in great need of assistance to work through the problems or stages in their relationship. Don't give up on your relationship until you have worked with a skilled Marriage and Family Therapist!! Not every therapist has that expertise and experience. My focus is less on what is happening within the client. It is MUCH more important to look at the inter-relationships, both past and present. Blame is not very efficient at developing intimacy. Taking personal responsibility can help a lot!

I feel particularly adept at dealing with relationship issues. Maybe it is because I was a "Child of the Troubles" in Northern Ireland and came from families that were from each side of the divide. I had to learn, from a very early age and through much pain, how poor communication and presumptions about 'the other' lead to relationship breakdown and conflict.
