My Approach to Helping
Do you feel unstable, lost, or confused? Is your anxiety and or depression spinning out of control? With your collaboration, I can assist you and give you the tools to find happiness and trust in yourself and life path again. I utilize an eclectic therapeutic style specializing in the following techniques connecting you back to a healthy mind, body, and soul.
I create a caring and safe environment for you to share whatever is on your mind and in your heart. Together we'll explore your concerns in all their complexity. By exploring these issues, you become aware of how your past experiences have influenced who you are now and how you relate to others. Change occurs through self-awareness. The more you observe and discover, the more your awareness will grow, allowing for self-compassion and inner wisdom to emerge and be your ultimate guide.
I teach mindfulness techniques as tools to ease anxiety and depression. Mindfulness is paying attention to our present moment experiences with openness and curiosity and a willingness to be with what is. It is in the present moment where we can learn to connect to our bodies and environment, tend to our emotions, and truly take care of ourselves. Simple mindfulness exercises during the day can re-connect you to yourself and promote a deep sense of peace.
TRM (TRAUMA THERAPY)
Individuals who have experienced trauma and abuse might find that traditional talk therapy is unable to fully heal them and or re-traumatizing. Our bodies store many of our emotional traumas, which can cause debilitating symptoms such as endlessly re-experiencing the traumatic event, numbness, nightmares, anger, depression and anxiety. I am trained in the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM), which allows individuals to perceive their symptoms as biological rather than pathological. Clients learn how to take cues from their body, track their own nervous systems, and create a cognitive resource to cultivate feelings of well-being. These embodied skills empower clients to self-regulate their nervous system, reprocess traumatic events, and build a greater resiliency during stressful times.
I look forward to working with you!
