My Approach to Therapy

I am a therapist specializing in eating issues for women and teens in Charlotte, North Carolina, offering in-person and telehealth services across North Carolina and South Carolina. I work with women and teens who are exhausted by their relationship with food, their bodies and themselves. They’re ready to understand what’s really driving it. I specialize in eating issues, disordered eating, binge eating, emotional eating, body image distress, trauma and attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) in women. Many of my clients are high-functioning, deeply self-aware and have already tried behavioral approaches. What they haven’t had is a space to explore the why: the emotional history, nervous system patterns and unmet needs that food or body shame have been quietly trying to fill. My approach is trauma-informed and integrative. I combine posttraumatic stress (PTSD) therapy with expressive arts therapy (writing, visual art, imagery and movement), somatic body-based work, Internal Family Systems and cognitive behavioral therapy. Healing rarely happens through insight alone. Sometimes the body needs to be part of the conversation. I accept Aetna and private pay only. A free 15-minute consultation is available: no forms, no pressure, just a conversation.

My Practice & Services

My practice is a space for women and teens who are ready to go deeper than symptom management. I don't work from a one-size-fits-all model — every client brings a different history, nervous system, and set of needs, and I tailor our work accordingly. Sessions are available in-person at my Charlotte, NC office and via telehealth throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. I offer a free 15-minute phone or video consultation before your first appointment — no commitment required. I have a particular passion for working with women who have been dismissed, misdiagnosed, or told they "don't look like" they have a problem. You don't have to be at rock bottom to deserve support — and you don't have to have a diagnosis to begin healing.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

I don't ask my clients to do anything I haven't done myself ? or wouldn't be willing to do. That's not just a professional stance. It's a personal one. I've spent a lifetime navigating my own recovery and managing ADHD and depression. I know what it's like to sit with the hard stuff, to do the inner work, and to keep choosing healing even when it's uncomfortable. That lived experience shapes everything about how I show up in the room. I bring authenticity into my practice because I believe that's what actually creates change. When a client feels like they're working with someone who truly gets it ? not just someone who studied it ? something different becomes possible. The shame loosens. The walls come down. Real work can begin. My greatest passion is empowering women to choose themselves first, often for the very first time. To stop managing everyone else's comfort at the expense of their own healing. That's not selfish. That's survival. And I've learned that firsthand.
