My Approach to Helping

Hello, I'm Adam Grushey, a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor II. My journey in the field of addiction treatment is both professional and deeply personal. After a career as a corporate executive in the hospitality sector, I found my true calling in helping those struggling with addiction. This path has not only been a professional choice but a personal one, as I am a recovering drug addict and alcoholic myself.

My approach to helping is grounded in the principles of the 12-Step program, which forms the foundation of my therapeutic practice. However, I believe in a holistic approach to recovery, integrating aspects of biopsychology, holistic healing, and mythology to provide a comprehensive support system for my clients. This blend of traditional and innovative methods allows me to address the multifaceted nature of addiction, catering to both the physical and psychological aspects of recovery.

Having personally navigated the challenges of addiction, I bring a unique perspective and a deep sense of empathy to my work. I understand the struggles, fears, and hopes that come with the journey towards recovery. This personal experience has been instrumental in shaping my approach, allowing me to connect with clients on a more profound level.

As a devoted student of psychology and English literature, I am continually learning and incorporating new insights into my practice. I am driven by the opportunity to help others uncover their true purpose in life, believing that everyone has the potential to rewrite their story and embark on a path of healing and self-discovery.

At the Massachusetts Center for Addiction, my role extends beyond just treatment. I am committed to creating a supportive, understanding environment where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions safely. My goal is to guide each individual towards finding peace, balance, and a renewed sense of purpose in their lives. Through this journey, I aim to help others not just overcome addiction but embrace a life of fulfillment and meaning.
