My Approach to Therapy

Fear and uncertainty? Obsessions? Compulsions? It’s time to change your thoughts and start living again. I’m a firm believer that you have a choice in what you put your mental energy into each day and I’m here to help you reestablish the agency you already have. It is my hope that we can build a foundation of trust so we can start getting to the root of any emotional turmoil that’s keeping you stuck in fear. Through therapy, I believe you can weather the struggles of life and grow stronger. My passion is working with individuals dealing with anxiety-based challenges. I work with adults and teenagers who struggle with anxiety-related conditions, obsessive-compulsive challenges (OCD), depression and substance use. As of August 2020, I am also a trained eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) clinician. EMDR is a treatment modality that incorporates the brain’s natural healing power into therapy. Sometimes a little knowledge can provide surprisingly big insights about your own situation. Bring your questions and I will do my best to help you understand what you’re going through. The distress you’re feeling right now won’t last forever.

My Practice & Services

I believe a healthy therapeutic relationship, where trust can be built and hope can be formed, is an important part of healing. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and I have a master’s degree from Adler Graduate School. I specialize in Adlerian counseling, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), systematic desensitization, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), rumination-focused exposure and response prevention (RF-exposure and response prevention (ERP)) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). My areas of clinical interest include depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive challenges (OCD), personality-related challenges and co-occurring mental health, trauma and substance use challenges. I work with adolescents and adults and I focus on building a positive connection with each person I meet. I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of change. Through that relationship, trust can grow and hope can take shape. I also specialize in psychoeducation and I may incorporate spiritual elements into therapy when that’s meaningful to you. I worked in a substance use program for two years and I enjoyed supporting people in recovery as they transitioned back to sober living. After that, I transitioned into telehealth and I’ve enjoyed meeting people from all over Minnesota. My real passion is working with people dealing with anxiety-based challenges. I work with adults and teens who struggle with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive challenges and substance use.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I trained under Dr. Michael Greenberg learning his Rumination-Focused Exposure and Response Prevention Training for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and have had over 8 years of treating individuals with OCD in an outpatient setting. I offer a unique perspective on the understanding of OCD and how it effects clients. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Many clients have found this to be a helpful, non-invasive approach to the treatment of their trauma.
