My Approach to Helping

I believe that each client has their own unique lens through which they view the world. Each of us offers our own understanding of events and sometimes these understandings can get us tied up in our thoughts. I seek to understand your point of view and how this has impacted your mental health as we work together to make change in your life. I will help you understand more about any mental health diagnosis you may have questions about and I try to do so in a way that creates insight and meaning for you. It is my hope that you will grow in your understanding of yourself and will be able to improve your mental health.

More Info About My Practice

I believe a healthy therapeutic relationship – where trust can be built, and hope can be formed – is an important part of healing. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and have a master’s degree from Adler Graduate School. I specialize in Adlerian counseling, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), systematic desensitization, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My areas of clinical interest are depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personality disorders, and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. I work with adolescents and adults and rely on making a positive connection with all my clients. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of change. It is through this relationship that trust can happen and hope can be formed. Lastly, I also specializes in psychoeducation and incorporating spiritual elements into my approach to therapy.

I have worked in a substance use program for the last 2 years and have enjoyed working with recovering addicts as they make the transition back to sober living. My real passion is in working with individuals with anxiety-based illnesses. I work with adults and teenagers who struggle with anxiety related disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and substance use.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I offer a unique view of obsessive-compulsive disorders and anxiety-based illnesses. I specialize in using systematic desensitization to treat OCD as well as other phobias. I am also gaining proficiency in treating individuals with pervasive negative personality patterns that may be interfering with their daily functioning.
