My Approach to Therapy

Have you spent your life feeling like an outsider? Maybe you've been judged, misunderstood, or made to feel like you don't belong. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and I specialize in working with people who have been marginalized, especially LGBTQ+ individuals, trauma survivors, and others who've had to fight harder just to exist. I have a deep love and respect for people who have survived lives that asked them to fight harder just to exist. I also specialize in music industry professionals, bringing in my own experience. Music was my first career! Together, we'll help you heal, reconnect with yourself, and build a life that feels authentic to you. I don’t want therapy to feel cold and clinical. I aim to create a space that feels comfortable and safe enough for deep introspection and healing. I do my best to help you be your most vulnerable, whatever that looks like. Together, we’ll laugh, cry, and experience breakthrough moments that will help you reach the life you want for yourself. I offer virtual sessions so therapy fits your life: no gas usage, no commute, no waiting room, just meaningful work from the comfort of your own space. Research confirms telehealth is just as effective as in-person therapy, and that includes therapies such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Let's talk! Call or email me for a free 15-minute consultation!

My Practice & Services

My practice is 100% virtual. I made that decision after nearly a decade of renting office space. I found myself frustrated with the lack of privacy, shared waiting rooms, slamming front doors, loud conversations in the hallway, and growing traffic problems, you get it. At first, I wasn't sure this was the right move for my practice or for me, but it has been wonderful. Many of the people I work with don't want to deal with running into familiar faces in the waiting room or having to fight traffic to get to an office. Now they can hop on a call from a secure location in Tennessee or Florida. I find that the comfort of doing therapy from home can actually deepen the process. Therapy can be weird and awkward, that's just the truth. So you might as well be comfortable while doing it!

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

I originally started my adulthood working in the music industry. I LOVE music and I wanted to share music with the world in the hopes of reaching people just like me. Growing up was hard. I think it is for a lot of us. Music helped me through those dark and hard times. When I graduated with my bachelors in commercial songwriting, I was ready to take on the world. After a short time, I realized that the music industry is brutal and I didn't have the same passion to push through the industry much as some of my colleagues. The day I left my industry job, I was searching mental health degrees. I always joke that I don't know if I needed a therapist or wanted to become a therapist, so I did both! As someone who never really "fit in", I have a special love for working with people who feel outcast, weird, alone, or those who feel like they've had to work harder just to exist. I love a good challenge and as long as we work well together, I will do everything I can to help.
