My Approach to Therapy

Hey there, I'm Chris. You've spent years being the person everyone else counts on the one who holds it together, figures it out, and keeps going even when you're running on empty. You're not failing. You're burned out. And there's a real difference between the two. I work with high-achieving adults who are tired of white-knuckling their way through life. The ones who have tried therapy before and left feeling like they got a worksheet instead of actual change. The ones who are self-aware enough to know exactly what's wrong but can't seem to stop doing it anyway. My approach isn't textbook. I don't do the head-nodding, "how-does-that-make-you-feel" thing. I notice what you're doing in the room and I say something about it. We get into the actual patterns the overgiving, the resentment you've been swallowing, the version of yourself you keep promising you'll get back. That's where the real work happens. You've been holding it together long enough. Let's talk.

My Practice & Services

Prebble Counseling Services LLC is a telehealth-only solo private practice serving adults in Pennsylvania, Florida, and South Carolina. No group practice, no rotating associates when you work with me, you get me. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Behavior Specialist (BSL), and National Certified Counselor (NCC), licensed in Pennsylvania and registered as a telehealth provider in Florida and South Carolina. I specialize in Therapy Intensives extended 3-hour sessions for when weekly therapy isn't moving fast enough. I also offer individual therapy in Pennsylvania, Florida, and South Carolina for those who want consistent weekly support. Therapeutic Fly-Fishing with EMDR Retreats launching summer 2026 in Clinton County, PA and surrounding areas for those who think more clearly surrounded by water than they ever have in an office. For professionals: LPC supervision in Pennsylvania for clinicians pursuing licensure, and nationwide ethical consultation through the Ethical Badass" framework. I built this practice because I've been the burned out high-achiever, the people-pleaser who mistook self-abandonment for love, and the client who left sessions feeling unseen. So I built the practice I always wished existed. I am Level 2 certified in Unified Protocol Therapy. I am currently completing EMDR Basic Training and will begin a TF-EMDR apprenticeship following advanced training in June 2026. I integrate techniques and strategies from multiple modalities based on what actually fits each client. I am not formally certified in all approaches listed, but have received training in the techniques I use.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

If therapy hasn't worked before, you're not the problem. Most people don't find the right fit on the first try. If you've ever left a session feeling more managed than understood, that's not a you issue, that's a fit issue. A lot of my clients have tried therapy before and walked away feeling like their therapist didn't actually get them, especially those who are neurodivergent, late-diagnosed, or who just don't fit neatly into a clinical box. The problem usually isn't therapy itself. It's that the therapy was built for someone else. I show up as a real person, not a blank screen. I'll notice things, name them, and yes, I'll call it like it is when needed. That's not me being harsh. That's me actually paying attention. Here's what clients say about working with me: "A professional disguised as the best friend you always wanted." "Chris is an excellent therapist who gets me, my sense of humor and understands my thoughts [sic] process. She has been compassionate, relatable and so helpful in working with me to manage my stress triggers."

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

Starting therapy is a bigger decision than most people realize. You're not just picking a service; you're deciding whether to let someone into the parts of you that you keep hidden from everyone else. That means something. Do your research. Read profiles, check credentials, look at reviews. Find someone whose approach makes sense to you before you ever get on a call. You deserve a therapist who understands you, not just one who's available. And if you start and it's not working, you can leave. You are an active participant in your own care. Your voice matters and you have the final say in any decisions made about your treatment - unless a court order says otherwise. No pressure. No guilt. Just an honest conversation to see if this makes sense for you.
