At times, many of us face emotions and suffering that can feel overwhelmingly painful, disheartening, and difficult to bear, often due to unique stressors and events. I work with adults, adolescents, families, and step-families, providing support through a range of therapeutic approaches, including emotionally focused therapy (EFT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), interpersonal psychotherapy, dialectical behaviour therapy (dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems. These approaches, grounded in neuroscience and attachment theory, empower clients to access their inner strengths and unlock their potential for growth. Since cognitive therapy is often not enough to address intense emotions, I incorporate interventions that help regulate and organize emotional experience to support individuals and families as they thrive. By creating a safe, accepting, and confidential environment, I help clients, whether dealing with depression, anxiety, marital distress, or difficulties in peer relationships, use their innate ability to heal and grow.

If you're stuck in the same argument with a partner or family member, if you just can't seem to get on the same page or you're still dealing with a hurtful event from the past, I can help you gain clarity and a way out. Come alone or bring your partnerspouse or family member if they're willing and let's get started. I use emotion and solution-focused therapies, and integrate these approaches with cognitive and experiential approaches. I work with couples, families, and individuals to explore their feelings and examine how their beliefs affect their behavior. My goal is to help my clients achieve better self-awareness, resolve their conflicts, and build healthier, more satisfying relationships.

Being a woman in your 20s or 30s can feel like a constant cycle of pressure, confusion, and self-doubt. Maybe you've recently gone through a difficult change, like a breakup, career shift, loss, or big move. Or maybe you feel like you're behind, burnt out, anxious, depressed, or unsure of where you’re headed, when everyone else seems to be moving forward. This season of life can be incredibly overwhelming, and we get how heavy it can feel. You don’t need to have the perfect answers or present a polished version of yourself. We create a space where you can be real, reflect on what’s been holding you back, and start working toward a life that feels more aligned, not just one that looks good on paper. You’re not meant to figure all of this out alone. We're here to support you in finding clarity, building confidence, and creating a path forward that actually feels good.

My name is Ely (Eliahu), like everyone else I have my story, my ups my downs, my successes my failures and my doubts. My life path has taken me to many geographic locations, some changes have been easy some have been hard.  I have experienced issues of health as a patient and part of the health team. I have lived with traumas that were inherited, experienced, witnessed, and clinically studied. I have lived through the grief of loss, felt the darkness of hopelessness, and discovered the power of human resilience. I am a person of faith, who believes each person has their own form of spirituality. I believe that each one of us is made up of parts that are at times not integrated well and require outside help to reach a balance. I am a Rabbi who works at not being judgmental, a teacher who has learned that each person has his own way of learning and that one size does not fit all. I have many rolls in my life:  a husband, a father, a grandfather, a Chartered Mediator, Registered Psychotherapist. My skills and experiences are available, I do not have all the answers, what I am good at is helping people find their path.

I am available to support you through virtual sessions. Contact me to arrange a phone call to explore whether starting therapy with me is right for you. Please visit my website to learn more about me. My approach integrates psychotherapy with creative process to engage the mind, body, emotions and imagination on the journey of change. I ground my practice in a belief in human resilience and in our innate potential for healing and transformation through difficult times. My work is informed by anti-oppressive perspectives, understanding of trauma and environmental influences on the psyche, neuroscience research findings, the mind-body relationship, symbolic process, and spirituality. I am committed to principles of social justice, and to promoting balanced and respectful relationships. In over twenty years of practice, I have incorporated creativity and mindfulness with many types of verbal therapies. My experience includes work in public healthcare and community settings, including: mental health services in hospital outpatient clinics; addiction and trauma recovery; counselling for women and children exposed to domestic violence; specialized programs for children and youth with complex difficulties. I also provide specialized services in Jungian Sandplay Therapy. Sandplay Therapy is a unique modality that provides a nonverbal way for clients of any age to experience and transform inner tensions through creative expression with sand, water and miniatures. While engaging the body and imagination, you become the creator of your personal journey. With children and youth, playful and non-verbal approaches are central components of my practice. These imaginative modalities engage young people in creatively exploring their struggles while building a sense of mastery and self-worth. I am a Registered Social Worker providing psychotherapy in Ontario and hold Masters Degrees in both Social Work and Sociology. I am also an internationally certified Jungian Sandplay Therapist with the Canadian Association for Sandplay Therapy (CAST) and the International Society for Sandplay Therapy (ISST). I am a past President of CAST, and a Senior Teacher-Supervisor for CAST and ISST. I provide internationally recognized sandplay training, supervision, workshops and conference presentations.
