After over 15 years in private practice, I have come to believe that healing is less about the “right” technique and more about feeling genuinely seen, and safe enough to discover yourself. Authentic connection is at the heart of my work. Much of my practice is with people who have experienced trauma, or who find themselves caught in patterns they haven't been able to change. Sometimes we come to therapy because life is overwhelming, or we know something needs to change - but aren't quite sure how to get there. Often the things that helped us survive earlier in life are the very things that are getting in our way now. I believe you are the expert on your own experience, and that the wisdom and capacity for healing are already within you. My role is to create a grounded, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can slow down, become more deeply connected to yourself, and discover what is asking to be seen, held and or changed. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and my work is informed by Somatic Experiencing, Gestalt therapy, EMDR, Brainspotting and Family Constellations. I work experientially - at a pace that respects your nervous system, rather than asking you to override (again) what has happened to you. Sessions are intentionally longer than a typical therapy hour, allowing enough time to move beyond simply talking about what is happening and into actually experiencing something different. I also offer psychedelic preparation and integration for people who are approaching these experiences thoughtfully and with intention. My personal experience with Ayahuasca, Kambo, Bufo5-MeO-DMT, and MDMA has given me a deep respect for the power—and the responsibility—of this work. I believe therapists need to continually do their own work. We cannot reasonably invite another person into places we are unwilling to explore ourselves. I have spent many years doing that work, and I know how difficult it can be to sit in the other chair. I also know how profoundly life can change when we are willing to do it. I have specialized in working with couples for over 30 years. I try to actively identify personal and relational strengths, such as trust, affection, commitment, respect, flexibility and repair, among others, in order to utilize and promote them to help couples reach their goals in treatment. I begin couples work with a focused couples evaluation designed to determine whether treatment is indicated and to quickly identify key problems, strengths and promising directions for treatment. I am a participating provide with Blue Cross Blue Shield, the Pioneer Health Network and Medicare and accept other insurances that offer their clients out-of-network coverage. I am a therapist who has worked extensively in sexual assault, domestic abuse violence, depression, anxiety, and grief and loss. I believe that everyone has the resources within them to heal from these and other painful issues, they just need someone to help guide and come alongside them. We may also address patterns of thinking and emotional obstacles that make it harder to stay motivated and manage everyday responsibilities. The aim is to develop strategies you can practice and apply in your daily life, rather than simply telling you to “try harder” or “be more organized.” Relationships and self-esteem can also be important areas of our work. If you find yourself repeating painful relationship patterns, struggling to communicate your needs, worrying about rejection, or having difficulty setting boundaries, we can explore both where these patterns came from and how you might relate to others differently. If you struggle with self-worth, we can examine the experiences and beliefs that have shaped the way you see yourself while working toward a more compassionate and confident sense of self. I also have a particular interest in meaning, purpose, personal growth, and spirituality. You may be functioning reasonably well on the outside while still wondering what gives your life direction or why something feels missing.
