As a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), I specialize in the treatment of anxiety using multiple approaches to recovery.
I work with couples, families, and individuals who are interested in improving their relationships, and people who are struggling with strong emotions like anxiety. I believe that the quality of our relationships, both with ourselves and others deeply affects our overall well-being. Healing, in my view, happens both individually and within the dynamics of our connections with others. I recognize that building and maintaining strong partnerships requires effort, but I know that the rewards of healthy relationships are invaluable. I earned my BA from UCSB and my Master's in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, with a certification in Somatic Psychotherapy. I have also trained at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis, which has deepened my understanding of how unconscious processes and early relational patterns influence present behaviors. I help clients uncover emotions, thoughts, and patterns affecting their relationships, guiding them toward deeper self-awareness and lasting change. My background as a yoga teacher and trainer for over a decade has shaped my holistic approach, allowing me to integrate somatic awareness and mindfulness into my work. In addition to my psychoanalytic and somatic training, I also use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients strengthen emotional bonds and foster secure attachments. This blend of psychoanalytic exploration, somatic awareness, and EFT offers a comprehensive approach to healing and improving relationships. I work with clients both online throughout California and in-person in Santa Barbara.
I often use the metaphor that therapy is like a trusted workspace where people can sort through their thoughts, feelings, relationships, and life experiences as a way to develop strategies for the parts of life where they feel stuck or confused. As a therapist, I use narrative and cognitive-based principles to help you get a better sense of the strategies and resources that help to achieve your goals. Using your values and strengths as the primary tools for our work, we employ therapeutic practices to overcome obstacles and strengthen relationships that will increase competence, confidence, decrease anxiety and stress, and address whatever circumstances may be going on in your life. Using therapy as a resource is all about finding someone who feels like a good fit. If you are interested in connecting with me to see if we might work well together, please feel free to reach out, and I would be happy to speak with you to answer any questions you may have about getting started in this process.
I believe that therapy helps people heal from present and past wounds, empowering them for struggles to come. My mission as a therapist is to help clients to identify those negative influences and help them make positive changes so they discover who they are, bring in purpose and fulfillment, with the overall goal to live their best life yet. Every person has the ability to positively change, and I will collaboratively work with each client to help them do that. I am trained in and use EMDR to treat and relieve PTSD, acute stress, and anxiety symptoms resulting from traumatic and other life experiences. EMDR therapy can produce elevated emotional and somatic reactions during and after treatment. A typical client experiences a 60-90% reduction in stress as a result of completed treatment. I also have advanced training in R-TEPG-TEP (Recent Traumatic Event Protocol and Group Traumatic Event Protocol). I use a conversational and collaborative approach. These are your sessions and you know yourself best, we can talk about and work on anything you want to work on. I always send emails within 24 hours of getting a referral. Please remember to check your junkspam folders if you have not received anything.
Hi, I’m Kari, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Registered Dietitian. I support individuals experiencing anxiety and depression, struggling with an eating disorder, caught in addiction, or navigating a life transition. I have specialized training in the treatment of eating disorders and common co-occurring disorders such as OCD, ADHD, Borderline Personality Disorder, and substance use. I also support people who want to improve their lives by setting healthier boundaries, building confidence, and living more aligned to their values. I help couples who want to feel more connected with their partner and improve communication to resolve conflict in a caring and effective way. I have completed Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, training in the Gottman Approach for the Treatment of Affairs and Trauma, and use Gottman Method Couples Therapy in my work.
Living with an eating issue can feel exhausting and isolating, even when you are doing your best to hold things together. You may be capable, thoughtful, and self-aware, yet still feel stuck in familiar struggles with food or your body, worn down by the constant mental effort that often accompanies eating issues. And still, part of you may be ready for something different. Therapy can offer a place to slow down and begin to quiet the noise around food and body image. I specialize in working with teens and adults struggling with eating issues and body image concerns, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and patterns of disordered eating that can feel confusing, exhausting, or hard to put into words. Many clients seek me out for a thoughtful, steady approach, where therapy feels contained, genuinely supportive, and individualized. I aim to create a space where you do not feel rushed, judged, or reduced to symptoms, but understood as a whole person navigating complex challenges around food, control, self-worth, and emotion. I am a California-licensed psychologist providing online therapy throughout California, with experience across inpatient hospital settings, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and outpatient care. My clinical training includes psychodynamic and attachment-based psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), emotion-focused family therapy (EFFT), intuitive eating, and Health at Every Size® (HAES) principles, as well as a certificate in psychoanalytically-oriented psychotherapy through LAISPS. Across more than two decades of practice, my focus has remained consistent: helping clients develop greater self-trust, balance, and connection to themselves and others. Therapy is collaborative, individualized, and grounded in both clinical expertise and compassion. When indicated, I collaborate with medical providers and dietitians to support comprehensive care. Whether you are seeking help for a longstanding eating issue, newer concerns about food or body image, or feel stuck despite prior treatment, therapy offers a place to slow down, make sense of what is happening, and move toward meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels manageable. A life where food and body concerns no longer dominate your thoughts is possible. You do not have to keep cycling through the same patterns, and you do not have to do it alone. I invite you to reach out to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.

It’s a very confusing time in history for men. There is so much messaging from all sides about what it means to “be a man”. Many men have been told their whole lives to “toughen up” and restrict their humanity to the culturally sanctioned “manly emotions,” such as anger. Society also tells men that it’s acceptable, even ideal, to possess women as a sign of their masculinity. Now, women are expecting more emotional literacy and maturity from men, who may now be called insensitive or toxic when behaving in the ways they were trained. Everyone deserves to be free to be their truest self, and to not be held back by gender roles or shame. I believe that the patriarchy has hurt and misled men. I am honored to witness any male identifying person become a confident leader without a need to dominate others. If you identify male and want to explore how to embody your masculinity in a healthy, authentic way, call or email me today to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.
Hey there! I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California, dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families find healing, growth, and lasting change. I earned my master’s degree in clinical psychology, with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy, from Pepperdine University. My therapeutic style is warm, supportive, and direct. I primarily draw from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and solution-focused therapy, helping clients build practical coping skills, regulate emotions, strengthen relationships, and move toward meaningful, achievable goals. I believe therapy should feel like a collaborative space where you feel heard, challenged, and empowered. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, and I specialize in supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, neurodivergent clients (including those with autism and attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD)), and those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, stress, burnout, and major life transitions. I believe every person deserves a therapeutic approach that honors their unique identity, experiences, and strengths, and I tailor treatment to meet each client’s individual needs and goals. Outside of the therapy room, I’m a proud mom of two young children and a lifelong animal lover. My home is often filled with the joyful chaos of kids and pets, which has deepened my appreciation for the complexities of family life, resilience, and human connection. I bring that same authenticity, compassion, and understanding into my work, creating a space where clients feel safe to be themselves while building the tools they need to thrive. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, navigating a difficult life transition, struggling in your relationships, or simply feeling stuck, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Together, we’ll work toward creating a life that feels more balanced, fulfilling, and aligned with what matters most to you.
I have been providing psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, children and families for over 17 years. I can help you find relief. My private practice offers a safe and open atmosphere free of judgement and grounded in authenticity. Here you can experience heightened self-acceptance, emotional understanding and tolerance, greater mind-body health, a new sense of empowerment, significant personal growth, and ultimately freedom.
