You can't always control your environment, but you can learn to adapt to it such that you can feel happier and more fulfilled. Counseling can be a wonderful growth experience. Gain self-esteem and improve the quality of your life by ridding yourself of fears, sadness, loneliness, hopelessness, grief, sleeping and eating problems or a short temper, all of which affect your relationships and your work. I can help you reduce stress from life changes, trauma, crises, marital troubles and relationship problems. And, my past business exprience enables me to help with career, business and financial difficulties. I am in private practice. I was formerly on staff at the New York Center for Psychoanalytic Training Consultation Center as well as a former Associate Director of the Jewish Association of Counseling and Psychotherapy.
Depression, anxiety, ADHD, and chronic stress can turn everyday life into a constant uphill climb. You're managing work and daily responsibilities, but only by burning energy to stay focused and keep things from slipping. From the outside, things may look fine, yet inside, it takes consistent effort to keep moving forward. It's frustrating when pushing harder doesn't help and nothing clicks. I offer a structured, goal-oriented approach centered on clarity, accountability, and practical strategies, helping you build momentum, improve focus, and feel steady and confident navigating daily demands and long-term goals.
Welcome! Are anxiety, burnout, or family stress keeping you up at night? Reaching out for help can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate it alone. Finding a therapist can be daunting, with so many things to consider. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 20 years of experience in the mental health field, helping children, adults, and their families work through a variety of challenges, from family conflict and general stress to more formal diagnoses of depression, anxiety, and attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD). Specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused interventions, I meet you where you want to begin, and I let you guide this process. I am well-versed in New Jersey’s Children’s System of Care and the Child and Family Team approach model. I have provided in-community services, parent coaching, and needs assessments for the last 19 years, working closely with child study teams and other treatment providers. I also have extensive inpatient crisis experience with both adolescents and adults. If you are ready to explore how to improve your life and well-being, feel free to reach out to schedule a free 15-minute consult to see if we may be a good fit.
I’m easy to talk to, and I try to get the whole picture without rushing the process. Everyone has a story and things they’re going through; some people are just better at hiding it than others.
In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my client's individual needs.
Life can be very stressful with the many obligations and demands placed on us. Whether it be at home or work, being overwhelmed seems to be 'the norm' these days. You may feel like you have to do it all or somehow, you're a failure. Maybe you're feeling that having the relationships you want are out of reach; or living the life you always imagined just isn't happening; or feeling alone even when surrounded by people. I chose to be a therapist because I know firsthand that change is possible. You see, it was by reaching out for help that I was able to break the patterns that were preventing me from reaching my goals. I decided I wanted to help others the way I was helped. If you're willing to do the work, you can have the life you long for. You only need to believe it's possible. I do.
My work focuses on individuals dealing with substance use alongside mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), grief and loss, and trauma. I provide clinical insight and care coordination to help each person create a clear, practical plan that promotes stability and supports progress toward recovery. If you’re feeling stuck or uncertain about your next steps, you don’t have to navigate it on your own. Taking that first step to reach out can be challenging, but it can also open the door to meaningful change. I offer a supportive, judgment-free space where we can work together to better understand your situation and identify a path forward that feels right.
I don’t use a “one size fits all” approach; What works for one person may not work for another. My style is integrative, blending approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic. At times, I may bring your attention to how your thoughts and emotions align with your body as a means to stay present and decrease anxiety. Building a therapeutic relationship can take some more time for one person than another. Therapy is not a race, but more so a journey. I encourage you to be patient with yourself. Together, we can work towards restoring and maintaining your emotional well-being.
I believe in the Rogerian principle of having unconditional positive regard for my clients. This means that you will not be judged no matter what you share with me and that I will work with you toward the best outcome. I want to build upon your strengths and help you gain knowledge from past disappointments as building blocks toward a better tomorrow.
When you realize you're struggling or you are at a difficult point in your life, the awareness can cultivate growth. Reaching out for assistance is not a sign of weakness, but rather a sign of your strength and motivation for change. It shows your readiness to address what is needed to move through the challenge. Stress, anxiety, past traumas, life transitions, relationship or challenges, can knock anyone off balance. Through our therapy, I help each individual understand what defined their developmental process and the relationship between the psyche and how one relates to their current environment. Individuals tend to manifest patterns in current relationships depending on the experiences they had as a child with parents, siblings or guardians. Experiences will eventually build a standard in the mind. We often then carry a standard or "object" around as an adult attaching it to every relationship or event. This is a habitual pattern that forms within us and it can affect our overall health. During therapy, we will employ various techniques, used so you develop a more harmonious position in how you view yourself and others. The goal is to see people and the world around us in a neutral manner based on rational thought, instead of attaching our past to the here and now. The focus of therapy is to show how you can improve relationships and interactions with others by removing the "object" that we naturally attach to events and people. This object shapes how one acts in relationships. When this is held in a negative manner it is detrimental to self-esteem happiness and health.
Therapy is a special place to explore who you truly are and what makes you happy. If you are not feeling fulfilled, it is time to do something about that! Life is short, and the capacity to look at how you deal with situations can require a special kind of honesty to make real change. I would like to help you achieve that goal. With over 20+ years as a therapist, I have helped clients work through a wide variety of issues - depression, anxiety, and marital and family problems. I would love to opportunity to work with you and help you make these important changes. I specialize in CBT and mindfulness to address depression, anxiety, and stress and have written an 8-week program that can help you make major changes in your life and how you react to situations. I have recently expanded my practice in the Morristown area, and I'm currently accepting new patients. I have been a psychotherapist for over 20+ years and have experience in a wide range of issues. Our work together will focus on your current life issues as we move towards a deeper understanding of what causes these reactions. As a result, you will be able to make different choices in your life.
