Short-Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

This 2-hour continuing education course for therapists focuses on Psychodynamic principles, clinical strategies, treatment targets, defense mechanisms, and the therapist’s role in treatment. Dr. Philip Feldman, LCSW will address ways to adapt treatment for specific cultures, explore client resistance, and address dysfunctional repetitive behavioral patterns. Dr. Feldman will also focus on Freudian concepts, goals, combined treatment models, and outcome research on Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. 

This continuing education course is designed to help mental health professionals:

1. Recall five Psychodynamic principles and clinical interventions.
2. Identify three ways to use Psychodynamic therapy to help clients work toward their goals.
3. Name three ways to help clients develop insight about their repetitive behaviors.

Statement of accuracy, utility, and most common risks: This course presents clinical and scientific information on evidence-based approaches to mental health. The content reflects a synthesis of peer-reviewed research and established clinical frameworks relevant to licensed mental health professionals. The course is intended for clinicians seeking to incorporate clinical strategies within their existing scope of practice. The program discusses practical ways to apply these approaches in a clinically responsible and evidence-informed manner; however, the presenter acknowledges that not all strategies will be appropriate for every client or clinical setting. A body of research supports the effectiveness and safety of these methods when applied appropriately. As with any intervention, misapplication outside one’s professional scope or without individualized assessment could lead to unintended outcomes.

How the Web Conference Works

Before the scheduled event, all registered attendees will be sent a reminder email from GoodTherapy with specific instructions on how to log in to the webinar, as well as links to optional handout materials if applicable.

To attend the event, registered attendees will log in to the Microsoft Teams web conference center using a computer or device with internet access and/or call into the teleconference line on a phone. Attendees will be able to submit questions during the webinar via text chat in the Microsoft Teams web conference center and will be able to see the live streaming video and/or document sharing. 

At the conclusion of this event, participants will receive an email with information about how to request a CE certificate in your GoodTherapy Account. To confirm attendance, participants must enter the start code and end code announced at the beginning and end of the live presentation. Participants will also be prompted to complete an online survey evaluating the event. Participants will need to complete this online survey within six days after the event. Once completed, participants will be able to download a copy of their CE certificate right away by logging in to their GoodTherapy account.
