Sustaining and positive relationships in our lives create the foundational elements to our experience of happiness. Group therapy is based on the idea that many of the difficulties people have in their lives can be understood as patterns of relating with others. I co-lead three weekly on-going, mixed gender therapy groups, typically with five to ten people in each group. As a group member you are asked to share your thoughts and feelings that emerge towards others in the group. In this way, you consider your communication styles; patterns of thought and behavior and gain clearer perceptions about how others respond to you. As you continue to engage in the group process, you will likely feel close to group members, begin to trust their knowledge of you, and assist in expanding your awareness of self and changing how to react and respond in close relationships. As you work through interpersonal challenges, group therapy will support positive growth and development in all areas of your relational life.
