Description

Life doesn?t make sense after the death of a child of any age. Traumatic circumstances can make coping especially difficult. Listen, share and grieve with the supportive guidance of a grief counselor and other parents who have lost an adult child to death. This small, confidential support group is for parents who are overwhelmed by depression, anxiety, anger, guilt, flashbacks or emotional numbness. An experienced counselor will share information and resources on issues bereaved parents often face and facilitate discussion on issues you are currently experiencing. This professionally led grief group could help whether the death was recent or several years ago. Appropriate for death due to overdose, suicide and mental illness. Topics include: What to expect when grieving. Parental identity after loss. Coping skills. Managing the response of friends, family and strangers. Dealing with birthdays, holidays and anniversaries. Guilt. Layers of grief. Making sense of life. FACILITATORS: The group is co-led by Lynn Acquafondata , LMHC, and Sarah Hader, LMHC-P, who specialize in helping those struggling with grief.
