Vallon Jackson

Vallon Jackson

Vallon (Val) is a licensed professional counselor who graduated from the University of Houston and continued her education at Prairie View A&M University with a master's degree in mental health counseling. She has provided mental health counseling services to a diverse clientele but has a passion for sports counseling. Being that she was a former athlete and coach before her career in mental health, she understands the unique challenges, pressures, and mental strain placed on athletes and coaches. So often they spend countless hours training their physical bodies to perform at its peak. But, with so many demands pulling at them every day, they neglect their mental wellness. However, it's not always about sport performance. It is also about their quality of life and being able to manage themselves effectively and successfully in the world of sports both on and off the field/court. Val approaches each player and coach as individuals, giving each client what he or she needs to achieve their highest potential in their sport careers and personal lives. Val also works with non-sport clients in WHY-based therapy. Helping clients identify the root, the real why, of their problem is the only way to provide proper and effective care. Finding the formula to that remedy first requires understanding and knowing the foundation of the problem. Val applies an in-depth exploration with each client to first determine their real "WHY". From there she works with them to devise a skill development plan and care plan to help them find a resolution.
