Colorado Recovery provides adults with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or other serious mental illnesses and dual diagnosis, access to a community-based residential treatment facility, transitional living, intensive outpatient treatment, and vocational services.
About Our Center
At Colorado Recovery you or your loved belong to a community. Our residential house and outpatient offices are located near the heart of downtown Boulder, Colorado. We have a unique social-vocational center called The Treehouse run by and for Colorado Recovery clients. The program helps prepare clients for success in relationships, volunteer work, education and job placements. Clients at Colorado Recovery are twice as likely to be in paid employment with the support of our vocational program, compared to the national average. Each week members can participate in hikes, volunteer work with horses, yoga classes, community service, art studios and outings. Having a sense of belonging can be an essential piece of recovery. Colorado Recovery is one of the few treatment centers in the country that provides long-term care and community.
Serious Mental Illness
We treat people who suffer from a serious mental illness, such as a psychotic disorder or depression, many of whom have not done well in prior treatment. Having psychiatrists closely monitor clients' progress is a foundation of our practice. Testimonial: "The staff of Balsam House have become family to us. Our son muddled through four or five notable programs across the country for years without any improvement. In fact, his symptoms were getting worse. Each program seemed to reinvent the wheel - wasting valuable time and re-trying medications that had been ineffective - because there was no continuity of care and the consulting psychiatrist seemed unavailable to us when we tried to provide him with background information. Our son was really struggling and we were really distraught. Families who have been through this painful journey know what it feels like to be helpless and desperate to find help for their loved one. It wasn't until we discovered Colorado Recovery, that we finally had a real partner in his recovery and he had real hope to find stability with the guidance of Dr. Graybill and the experienced, warm and caring professionals in this program.
