My Approach to Helping
Life is full of joys and disappointments, successes and setbacks. We can usually manage the normal ups and downs with the assistance of family, friends, church, school or other institutions but sometimes it’s helpful to seek the assistance of a trained and experienced professional. Counseling is both a helping relationship and a process of change. Client and Counselor work in a collaborative manner.
As a professional counselor, I consider it my duty to assist individuals, families, and groups in finding or regaining the tools necessary to function independently again. It is my intention for us to work together and to identify some issues and possibly find a plan of action to resolve them. Since individuals and their problems are unique and diverse, the interventions and approaches to addressing them will be equally diverse. During the course of therapy, I will draw on various treatment approaches; these approaches may include but are not limited to traditional “talk therapy”, homework assignments, readings, activities andor group work.
