At Mindset Toronto, I realize that no two people are the same and as such my therapeutic approach is personalized to the client, often utilizing combined modalities including empirically-supported techniques inherent in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Psychodynamic approaches. I'm happy to discuss these approaches in more depth!

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I always knew I wanted to help people...a cliché statement but it couldn't be more true. I have a tendency to see the good in others and my career as a Psychotherapist allows me to help others draw from the good that resonates within and let it flow within them and trough them as they reach toward their goals and overcome difficulties. More than this, being a therapist has allowed me the privilege to help people in an impactful and meaningfully positive way while at the same time experiencing personal growth as I learn from clients every step of the way. Other perks of the role include witnessing and experiencing what it means to truly develop and possess happiness, gratitude, centeredness, mindfulness, self-acceptance and compassion, a positive mindset and self-concept, calmness and a feeling of being content in all senses of the mind, body and soul. Being a Psychotherapist is my passion and I absolutely love what I do. There's nothing I'd rather do in life.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

Because each person has different issues and goals for therapy, therapy will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs. It is very normal to feel nervous or intimidated about seeking therapy or talking to a stranger! I seek to provide a safe, compassionate, understanding and nonjudgmental space and atmosphere to deeply connect and for you to discuss the difficulties that you feel comfortable disclosing and collaboratively working on. Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

People who ask for help know when they need it and have the ability to reach out. This does not make the seeker weak or flawed. It means you've made a choice to improve your life, and that in and of itself represents strength and courage toward progress and refusing to be limited by comfort zones. Everyone needs help now and then. You already have some strengths that you've used before, that for whatever reason aren't working right now. Perhaps your situation feels overwhelming and is making it difficult to access your past strengths.
