My Approach to Helping
I specialize in providing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with individuals experiencing anxiety, worry, panic, and OCD. CBT can quickly help you feel less anxious and more in-charge. Contact me for a free initial phone consultation.
Many times I've worked with clients who tell me I'm different from previous therapists. In this respect, clients have told me: "I can tell you're really listening to me"; "You connect with me like a real person"; "I know you're putting your whole self into our sessions"; & "I always feel safe with you". This feedback is especially important to me for a number of reasons, especially because research has demonstrated that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is likely the largest single determinant of positive change.
In addition to valuing the therapeutic relationships with my clients, providing them cutting edge treatment options is another of my top priorities. One of the ways I do this is consistent review of the mental health research literature. As a result of my consistent readings and publications, I'm an internationally recognized mental health researcher. I've published peer-reviewed articles in journals including: The Journal of Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders, The Behavior Therapist, The Journal of Humanistic Psychology, Ethical Human Psychology and Psychiatry, The Journal of Feminist Family Therapy, and Reason Papers.
My clinical work is supervised by Dr. Jean Eich.
